Story Behind the Artwork:
The story of Mary and Martha, found in Luke 10:38-42, highlights the importance of prioritizing our relationship with Jesus over the distractions of daily life. In today's fast-paced world, it is easy to become consumed with busyness, responsibilities, and tasks, much like Martha, who was overwhelmed with serving.
Mary's choice to sit at Jesus' feet symbolizes the value of taking time to listen, learn, and grow spiritually. Martha was so distracted with busyness she was distracted from her our Lord and Saviour. Jesus' response to Martha reminds us that while service is important, it should not overshadow our need for spiritual nourishment and connection with Him.
In a culture that often equates busyness with productivity and worth, my aim for this artwork is to encourages us to find balance. It calls us to intentionally carve out time for prayer, worship, and reflection, allowing us to deepen our faith and relationship with Christ. Ultimately, for us to be like Mary and sit at the feet of Jesus.
